The naming of cats is a difficult matter. It isn't just one of your holiday games. You may think at first I'm mad as a hatter. When I tell you a cat must have three different names...T.S. Elliot
"One cat leads to another."...... Ernest Hemingway "Ohttp://home.wanadoo.nl/annekebroenink/maukie2.swf Purring as Healing? Not only do domestic cats purr, but cheetahs, pumas, servals and caracals do as well, says Elizabeth von Muggenthaler, president of Fauna Communications Research institute. She is among those researching how cats use purring as a healing mechanism. "Scientists have always tried to explain the purr by the hypothesis of contentment, which suggests that cats purr to make themselves and others content," von Muggenthaler says. "The problem is that cats also purr when they are severely injured, frightened or giving birth." Instead, von Muggenthaler suggests that cats purr at frequencies that aid in healing bones and tissue. "All the cats Fauna Communications recorded had purr frequencies between 20 and 200 hertz, except for the cheetahs with frequencies +/-22 hertz. All the species had fundamental frequencies of 25 hertz, dominant harmonics at 50, 100,125 and 150 hertz, [which represent] frequencies that correspond exactly with the best frequencies for bone growth and fracture healing, muscle tendon and ligament strength, relief of breathlessness and reduction of inflammation." If something as simple as purring can heal an injured cat, think of the doors that open when you understand your feline. " I think we're missing a wonderful language when we don't pay attention to our cats," Bash Dibra, author of CatSpeak, says. "One has to learn how to interpret; one has to learn the skills of cat speak. By learning how to decode those, you'll really come to enjoy your cat."
